Why do you need a credit report? What can you do with it?

The information within your credit report is used by lenders to determine whether or not they accept you for credit and what interest rate they are able to offer you, but why does it benefit you to view your credit report from MyUKCreditReport?

Using the information provided, you can assess your current credit status and the areas in which you might need to make changes in order to improve your credit score. If you use your free credit report from MyUKCreditReport wisely, you could give yourself a better chance of being accepted for a more competitive loan, mortgage, or any other type of credit in the future.

Correct errors on your credit report

Many people will find that their credit report contains some inaccuracies, and it could be those incorrect pieces of information that is hurting your credit rating.

With MyUKCreditReport, you are able to dispute errors on your credit report easily by clicking the “!” icon alongside each item, following which you will be given the relevant information and steps to take in order to get that information amended.

The credit reporting agency will investigate and help you dispute the information, but in the meantime, you can also contact the organisation or lender that provided the incorrect details in order to dispute it directly with them, if you wish to do so.

Regularly checking your TransUnion credit report in the UK

Keeping a keen eye on your credit report in order to keep it accurate and up-to-date could increase your chances of being accepted for credit in the future, as you avoid the possibility of incorrect information leading to a poor credit score.

Helpfully, MyUKCreditReport also alerts its members when any signs of identity fraud are spotted, which is yet another reason why you should really scan your report as often as possible.
